In December, WLS Netball Club member Ambrosuis Eichab umpired at the 2025 Africa Men's Netball Cup, the following is his experience at the games:

I went to Malawi to officiate at the Africa Men’s Netball Cup games, and it was a truly humbling experience. The people were incredibly friendly, and the food was amazing. I had the chance to make friends with fellow umpires and the tournament organisers, which made the experiences even more enjoyable and memorable.

My assessors were very supportive, helpful and informative. They gave constructive feedback and helped us identify our strengths and weaknesses, which really contributed to my growth as an official.

The competition took place from 7 - 14 December 2025, and the South Africa men’s team were crowned champions. Officiating at this level is not easy, but having a love for the game makes it easier and more rewarding. The arena was packed, and the spectators were so loud that sometimes players couldn’t even hear our whistles!

Africa netball is truly on the rise. For anyone thinking about becoming and umpire - pick that whistle up. It’s definitely worth it.
